More records broken at Wakefield Park Round 6

21 June 2010 | Eric Scheeren
It was a great day yesterday with Marek Tomaszewski breaking Duncan Forrest's winning streak with an Outright Record breaking time of 1.01.342. That time also broke the Type 4 and Class 4D records.
Andre Tan broke his own Type 5 and Class 5E records with a fantastic time of 57.194 lapping many cars until we were able to sort out a better starting regime to suit the very very quick car. Type 5 cars are not eligible to win either the Outright Pointscore or break the Outright Record.

Apart from the Class Records set by Marek and Andre, there were 5 Class records broken. Well 6 Class Records broken. The definition of "tough" is to break a record and have it broken by someone else on the same day. The definition of "really tough" is to break an 8 year old record and have it broken less than an hour later by someone else. That is what happened yesterday when Leigh Hemmings broke David Mackie's 2002 Class SVA Record by almost a half a second only to have it toppled a short while later by Alan Swinton. The realise the gravity of the record breaking runs, Class SVA is a very popular Class so a record that stands for 8 years is not to be treated lightly. To add to this, when I arrived at the track before 3pm on Saturday, Alan's car was stationery with a mystery ailment and it wouldn't start. I am told that he worked on the car and finally tracked down the problem at 5.30pm. Anyway a great effort by both Alan and Leigh.

Other Class Records broken were: -

Bryan Shedden broke his own Class 1A record in his MX5 with a time of  1.16.176 Tony Wiliams broke Voytek Boehm's 5 year old Class 2A in his  MX5 with a time of 1.13.061 Steven Lacey broke his own Class 3D Record  in his Torana with a time of 1.07.187 James Dick broke his own Class SVB record in his PRB with a time of 1.05.424

Also have a look at the Club Championship. The MX5 boys are streaking ahead and are 71 points ahead of their nearest rival.
